Para Site is proud to present Archive of the People, a commissioned solo presentation by artist (b. 1985, Hong Kong). This showcase is based on ongoing research into the construction of Hong Kong history and the associated political challenges. Works such as Open Archives Initiative (2013) and A Meeting Man (2014) question the ambiguous governance of archival materials and the disposal of primary historical sources in Hong Kong. wider interests consider individual gestures as forms of political communication and transgression, like in The History of United Front (HMS Tamar) (2013), where he attempted to gift the sculpted characters “人民” (Citizens) to the Hong Kong headquarters of the People’s Liberation Army, and was (predictably) rejected.
