From whence the waves came: An afternoon conversation

Date
May 5, 2018
Time
4:00 pm

In her newly commissioned work From whence the waves came, Law Yuk-mui researches Hong Kong’s history and landscape through an approach that is at once sentimental and rigorous. Drawing on this research, she creates an alternative map of the city constructed through the stories of migrants from different time periods, interlaced with events, memories, and imaginary reflections.

Law Yuk-mui, Qu Chang, and researcher Leung Ho Yin will discuss the stories, the method of narration, and the ambiguous definitions of the archives and materials present in the exhibition.

From whence the waves came was a solo exhibition of Law Yuk-mui’s work commissioned by Para Site and curated by Qu Chang on the occasion of Art Basel in March 2018.

The conversation will be conducted in Cantonese and Mandarin.
