Weekenders at Para/Site | Japan Experience

Date
Jul 4, 1998
Time
8:00 pm

Venue

Para/Site Art Space, 2 Po Yan Street, Sheung Wan

Speaker: Kurt Chan Yuk Keung

Speaking of Japan would it make you think of the TV drama Love Generation and Long Vacation? The word ‘artist’ would mean actor/actress and probably refer to Takuya Kimura or Noriko Sakai. Speaking of traditional art would it make you think of kimono or stone gardens? What is Japanese art?

The visual artist Kurt Chan recently visited Japan to study its art development. This Saturday he will share his experience in Japan. Japan has been equally influenced by Chinese culture, how does its local art development differ from that of Hong Kong? As a Hong Kong art practitioner, what was his experience in Japan like?

Thanks to the generous support of a Project Grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, we will be adding more information and archival materials for this event.

Please contact us at archive@para-site.art for enquiries and archival materials donations.
