Speaking of Japan would it make you think of the TV drama Love Generation and Long Vacation? The word ‘artist’ would mean actor/actress and probably refer to Takuya Kimura or Noriko Sakai. Speaking of traditional art would it make you think of kimono or stone gardens? What is Japanese art?

The visual artist Kurt Chan visited Japan in 1998 to study its art development. In this event, he shares his experience in Japan. Japan has been equally influenced by Chinese culture, how does its local art development differ from that of Hong Kong? As a Hong Kong art practitioner, what was his experience in Japan like?
