We’re Hiring Auction Assistants!

Para Site is looking for highly motivated Auction Assistants (temporary) to provide essential support for our upcoming Benefit Auction from 28 October–20 November. Each year, Para Site hosts a Benefit Auction, the main platform for achieving our fundraising goals, with generous support from artists, galleries, supporters, and friends from all over the world. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to help us maintain the development of our world-leading programmes. This year the annual Para Site Benefit Auction will take place on Wednesday, 20 November 2024, and the auction preview will be on view a week prior from 14 to 17 November. 

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to acquire crucial work skills and first-hand experience to better understand how a successful fundraising event is managed and organised.

If interested, please fill out the google form by noon, 4 October 2024 (Friday). Shortlisted candidates will be notified within three weeks to attend the interview.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for the preparation of the events, working closely with the Para Site team on sourcing materials for decoration and set up, preparing event documents, liaising with vendors and assisting with other ad-hoc duties
  • Assist in condition checking of artworks
  • Provide logistical support during the setup of the event
  • Assist with on-site support during the opening hours such as opening and/or closing the preview exhibition, artwork maintenance, escorting VIP guests, handling visitor enquiries, etc.
  • Meet and greet visitors, and direct visitor enquiries to the Para Site team
  • Provide other administrative and operational support at H Queen’s with other duties as assigned
  • Assist in event organisation such as venue decoration, set up, and closure, registration, and guest check-in at reception 
  • Handle guest enquiries and other ad hoc duties
  • Provide support with capturing bidder information and tracking bidding results during the live auction  

Requirements

  • Tertiary education or above; university/college students are welcome to apply
  • Fluent in English, Cantonese and/or Mandarin (preferred but not mandatory) 
  • Outgoing, presentable, personable, and proactive 
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills, and a sense of self-initiative
  • Commitment to regular and punctual attendance
  • Client facing experience in a dynamic environment, especially exhibitions or events, is preferable

Remarks

  • Priority will be given to candidates who are available for the whole period from 6 to 20 November.
  • Work hours normally range from 10am to 9:30pm, with overnight work required on the day of live auction and gala dinner
  • All successful candidates must attend an in-person briefing session on 25 October (Friday).
