We’re Hiring a Communications Manager!

Para Site champions original developments in contemporary art by centering artistic voices and innovations. Collaborating closely with practitioners from both local and international contexts, Para Site enables new works, initiatives, and ideas to come into being. Para Site is accepting applications for a creative, proactive and highly organised Communications Manager to join the team.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Communications Manager formulates and executes compelling communications plans centered around Para Site’s programmes, with the goal of promoting Para Site’s exhibitions, educational programmes and initiatives to a variety of stakeholders. Working collaboratively with all members of the team, including the curatorial and development teams, the candidate will proactively plan and conduct communications initiatives that leverage multiple digital and offline channels.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials in both English and Chinese; 
  • Plan, execute, and monitor online and offline publicity campaigns, ensure they are deployed on schedule and on budget;
  • Working closely with Para Site team members to schedule and manage all our digital channels, e-communications, and social media effectively. This includes but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, WeChat, Youtube, website and e-newsletters;
  • Maintain press relations, handle press inquiries related to Para Site, and act as Para Site’s in-house press and media liaison. This includes organising press viewing, media pitching and collaborating with external PR agencies when required;
  • Maintain media contact lists and subscription mailing lists;
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest communications trends and technologies;
  • Archiving press and institution-related documentation;
  • Handle basic copyediting and translation for communications collaterals (including invitations, exhibition catalogue and related communications), manage professional copyediting and translation services for publications as needed 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related discipline;
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience, and/or a proven record in social media and digital marketing;
  • Strong writing, copy-editing and proofreading skills in both English and Chinese, and visual language skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with teams, designers, vendors, and media;
  • Demonstrable experience in developing content tailored to the needs and interests of diverse audiences and is accessible to all;
  • A good eye for detail and understanding of how to have an impact through editorial content and images;
  • Adaptable in creative writing following a house style and tone of voice;
  • Strong knowledge of the arts and cultural media landscape is preferred;
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Cantonese, Mandarin is a plus;
  • Basic knowledge in using design software, Mailchimp, WordPress, data analysis is a plus

Candidates with less experience will be considered for the role of Assistant Communications Manager.
