Eighth Grade

Written and Directed by Bo Burnham

2018 | 94 minutes | English

Thirteen-year-old Kayla is making her way through her thus far disastrous eighth-grade year. She posts motivational videos on YouTube about confidence but is actually struggling to make friends. The burden of hoping to be popular leads her to serious social anxiety, and gives her tough time solving problems in friendship, family and sexuality.

Eighth Grade is a directorial debut of Bo Burnham, who started out on YouTube long before social media became businesses. He wanted to make a film about teenagers who struggle to “go viral” both on internet and in real life.

As always, all are welcome! Come and enjoy the most flawed, moody and realistic eighth grade with us.
