The word is out on the streets, someone will assassinate underworld kingpin Jimmy Yam in the next 24 hours. Soon enough, the first bullet is shot at Jimmy barely missing him, but he is bold and daring. He is not about to be frightened off by any one attempt on his life.

On the contrary, he uses this incident to wage war on his underworld rivals but the most important effect to come out of this is a chance for Jimmy to see the people in his life for whom they really are; his wife Sophie, his consigliere Wai, his bodyguard Yue, his mistress Jo Jo, his rival Si, a rising gangster Tiger, and a loyal follower who is in jail for him.

In the process of gaining a new perspective on those around him, he also gains a new outlook on himself, his past and his actions. Then, he finds out who is behind the assassination attempt. Who was it? Was it someone he created himself?
