As the final weekend of ‘Muted Hums’ approaches soon, join us for ‘Sound Journey: Unmuting the Senses’. Hosted by multi-instrumentalist Kawa Wong, whose practice bridges music and mindfulness, this intimate session is designed to deepen your connection to the exhibition through sound.

Begin with a herbal tea and calming breathing exercise guided by tea ceremonialist Sonia Lee, we invite you to attune your senses fully in the present and grounding ourselves with the surroundings.

Kawa will then guide a meditative listening journey through a unique soundscape inspired by the exhibition’s theme. Using instruments such as the Indian bansuri flute, frame drum, and rav pan, he evokes the gentle rhythms of nature and murmurs of living beings. These sound vibrations and whispers create a therapeutic resonance, harmonising body and mind while deepening inward awareness.

ABOUT

Kawa Wong is a Hong Kong-based sound artist and multi-instrumentalist specialising in Bansuri (Indian Bamboo Flute). Currently the Artist-in-Residence at Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, his practice is deeply rooted in the rhythms of nature. Kawa weaves breath, bamboo vibration, and silence into immersive soundscapes, exploring the dialogue between organic flow and urban structure. His performances invite the audience to traverse their inner landscapes, creating a sanctuary of deep connection and grounding stillness amidst the hustle of the city.

Sonia Lee is a Sound Practitioner and Tea Ceremonialist who focuses on the connection between acoustic vibration and somatic awareness. Specialising in the use of tuning forks, she utilises physical resonance to calibrate the atmosphere of the space. For this session, Sonia integrates herbal elements and tea ceremony to curate a grounded environment, guiding participants into a state of deep listening and introspection, restoring a natural rhythm to the body and mind.
