‘Curtain’ Screening—’Blue’ by Derek Jarman

Venue

Kino
Eaton House, 1/F 380 Nathan Road
Jordan, Hong Kong

Join us for a screening of Blue by Derek Jarman, as part of the exhibition Curtain, co-organised by Para Site, Hong Kong, and Rockbund Art Museum, Shanghai. A radical ‘anti-film’ and the final work by director Derek Jarman, Blue documents Jarman’s last days before succumbing to AIDS. By this time, Jarman had become blind, and the film is devoid of any imagery, plot, or characters, with only poetic music in the background, his own narration, and the eponymous blue color that fills the frame from beginning to end. Jarman was also active in the fight for gay rights, a theme that also figures prominently in his work. Stay for a post-screening talk with Cosmin Costinas, one of six curators of Curtain, and Chantal Wong, Director of Culture and Workshop Producer at Eaton HK.
