Para Site participates in the 2019 abC Beijing Art Book Fair with the archival exhibition Para Site: From 1996 to 2019. The presentation will tease out a small history of the institution’s exhibitions from 1996 to the present. These materials and Para Site’s first bilingual visual art magazine in Hong Kong, P/S magazine (1997-2006), are taken from what is becoming a valuable physical institutional archive from before the digital era. Artworks by Hong Kong artists Leung Chi Wo, South Ho, and Chan Ka Kiu will also be interspersed as visual materials mirroring the city scape of Hong Kong.
Since its inception in 2016, the abC Art Book Fair has been dedicated to establishing a sustainable creative ecology for artists’ books and indie publications. With its scholarly pursuit and experimental exhibition design, the abC Art Book Fair seeks to dispel the stereotypical understanding of books as a traditional medium, promoting a more mobile, more diverse contemporary practice of reading.
