Stefan Rusu (b. 1964,
, Republic of Moldova) is a curator, editor and filmmaker based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Rusu’s artistic and curatorial practice is closely connected to the processes post-socialist societies underwent and the changes that occurred in these societies after the fall of Communism in 1989. Trained as an artist, he was involved starting in 2000 in the development of KSAK Center, where he developed a number of curatorial projects and initiatives including www.art.md. Rusu received an MA in cultural management at Belgrade Art University and subsequently, attended the Curatorial Training Program at de Appel Arts Centre in Amsterdam, where he co-curated Mercury in Retrograde. In 2012, he realised Reclaiming The City, an investigative documentary commissioned by the 7th Berlin Biennial, which reflects on dramatic social-economic structural changes, the physical transformation of the city following the dismantling of Berlin Wall and the impact of gentrification on public space.Currently, Rusu is projects and programmes curator at Dushanbe Art Ground Center in Tajikistan.
