To encourage alternative art collecting and to raise fund for 1999’s exhibition series Beyond the Vision at Para Site Art Space, an event called Art SUPERmarket was opened on February 13, 1998. About ninety local artists took part and donated some 180 small pieces of work, from photographs to mixed media works, for sale at a fixed affordable price of HK$800 only.

Beyond the Vision is a series of nine specially curated exhibitions by guest curators and Para Site members, plus nine forums held by commissioned critics. After each exhibition, all the essays on the exhibition will be published in the form of brochure. It aims at promoting interactions of different forms of art in the local visual arts scene in order to project a new perspective. Para Site receive a fund of HK$300,000 from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council to cover the basic operations of the gallery for the year 1998/99. For the budget to organize Beyond the Vision, an extra amount of HK$220,000 has to be raised from private sectors.

In addition to sales of artworks during the fundraising party of Art SUPERmarket, there is also a climax of a 3-day-long performance by veteran artist Kwok Mang Ho. Art Life at Para Site for 72 hours by Kwok is a multi-media art performance emphasizing on the interaction between audiences and the artist. Art grows in three days and ends up in an atmosphere of carnival.
