Q&A session with Maestro Chiara Vigo after the screening

Byssus, or sea silk, is an extremely light, strong, and thin fibre, extracted from the feet of large saltwater clams. The ancient Italian art of spinning sea silk may soon be lost forever. Chiara Vigo is thought to be the last person in the world who can harvest and spin it into a shiny, gold-like material. In this film, director Rossana Cingolani has captured beautiful moments of the Chiara Vigo’s life  and her relationship with the sea. Vigo lives in a simple house and spends most of her time in the studio, the Museum of Byssus, where she shares her knowledge of weaving, painting, and healing.

Following the screening of The Magical Sardinian Woman, Maestro Chiara Vigo will be present for a question and answer session.
