Byssus, or sea silk, is an extremely light, strong, and thin fibre, extracted from the feet of large saltwater clams. The ancient Italian art of spinning sea silk may soon be lost forever.is thought to be the last person in the world who can harvest and spin it into a shiny, gold-like material. In this film, director has captured beautiful moments of the ’s life and her relationship with the sea. lives in a simple house and spends most of her time in the studio, the Museum of Byssus, where she shares her knowledge of weaving, painting, and healing.
